Why I received a smaller amount than scheduled by the customer?

Updated over a week ago

Plane never charges contractors to receive their payments. We do not charge conversion fees either. Contractors always get the real exchange rate with no markups or extra fees.

What if I received a smaller amount than scheduled by my organization?

If you received a smaller amount than what was scheduled by your organization, it is typically due to a fee charged by one or more of the intermediary banks involved in processing your payment between our bank and your bank.

International (SWIFT) payments may be routed through multiple banks, and some of them can deduct a fee from your payment to cover their transfer costs. Sadly, we do not have control over how payments are routed and whether a particular bank will deduct a fee. The bank makes the decision on whether a fee will be charged and how much it will be.

Weโ€™re always working on improving our payment routing and finding ways to deliver funds to you without additional fees.

What should I do to avoid this in the meantime?

Here are a few workarounds to consider if you want to minimize SWIFT bank fees:

  • Check with your bank if they have preferred intermediary banks. You can review this article for more information about adding intermediary banks.

  • Consider using a USD domestic account such as Payoneer or Wise.

  • Add payment method as a domestic transfer, where applicable.
