Can Plane help to recall a payment?

In some cases, Plane can initiate a recall request for international transfers. However, recalls are not guaranteed and are generally not recommended unless absolutely necessary.

Once a payment is sent, it travels through several banks, including intermediary and beneficiary banks, before reaching its final destination.

Each bank involved has its own policies and timelines, and some banks may decline or ignore recall requests entirely. Even when a recall request is accepted, the process can take several weeks or longer, and there is no guarantee the funds will be returned.

Domestic transfers

Recalls for domestic transfers are not supported.

Domestic payments typically settle instantly or within one business day. Once processed, they cannot be reversed.

Why recalls are not recommended

Payment recalls can be difficult and unpredictable for several reasons:

  • No guarantee
    Banks may reject or ignore the request, especially if the funds have already been credited or withdrawn.

  • Unpredictable timelines
    Each bank involved operates on its own schedule, which can significantly delay the process.

  • Potential fees
    Some banks may charge handling or processing fees.

  • Limited tracking
    Intermediary banks often provide little or no status updates during the recall process.

  • The outcome depends on the banks
    While Plane can initiate the recall request, the final outcome depends entirely on the banks involved.

💡 Tip: Always double-check your bank account details in Plane before your payment is scheduled. Accurate payment information helps prevent errors and avoids the need for a recall.

What happens if a recall is successful?

If a recall request is approved, the funds will be returned to Plane.

Once the funds are received:

  • The payment status in your Plane profile will be updated to Failed

  • Our team will notify you to confirm the next steps for resending the payment.

Even successful recalls may take several weeks, depending on the banks involved.
