Can Plane help to recall a payment?
Yes—but only in specific cases. While we can initiate a recall request for international transfers, we generally don’t recommend it unless absolutely necessary.
Once a payment is sent, it travels through multiple banks—including intermediary and beneficiary banks—before reaching its final destination. Each of those banks has its own policies and timelines, and many may decline or ignore a recall request entirely.
Even when a recall is accepted, the process can take weeks or longer, and there’s no guarantee that the funds will be returned.
Why we don’t recommend recalls
Here’s why we urge caution with payment recalls:
No guarantee: Banks may ignore or reject the request, especially if the funds have already been credited or withdrawn.
Unpredictable timelines: Timelines vary widely as each bank involved operates on its own schedule.
Potential fees: Some banks may charge processing or handling fees.
Limited tracking: We often receive little to no updates from intermediary banks.
Out of our hands: While Plane can start the process, the outcome depends entirely on the banks involved.
💡 Tip: Always make sure your bank account details in Plane are accurate. Taking a moment to double-check your information can help prevent issues and avoid the need for a recall.
What happens if a recall is approved?
If the recall is successful, the funds will be returned to Plane. Once we receive the funds, the payment status in your Plane profile will be updated to Failed we’ll notify you and confirm the next steps. Keep in mind that even successful recalls can take a few weeks depending on the banks involved.
What about domestic transfers?
Recalls for domestic transfers are not supported. These payments typically settle instantly or within one business day, and once they’re processed, there’s no way to reverse them.
