Introduction
Welcome to Plane! 🎉
This article will serve as a guide on how to navigate your Admin dashboard.
💡 Please note: Admins and account owners have the same dashboard. The only difference is that Admins do not have the option to add or remove other Admins.
Overview
The navigation bar is on the left side of the admin dashboard.
To the top left of the dashboard, you'll find an arrow beside the name of your organization, which shows the profile menu. Once you click that arrow, you'll have access to the following options: Company name with user access tag (Administrator), Open new account, Settings, Support, and Sign out.
Below that section, the following menu options are listed: Home, People, Payroll, Payments, Expenses, Time off, Time tracking, Accounting, Compliance, Insights, Company, Documents, and Apps.
Navigation menu items
Profile menu
Company name with user access tag: Shows whether you're accessing an Admin, Manager, Contractor, or Employee profile. You can also toggle between multiple user profiles.
Open new account: Gives you the option to create a new company profile.
Settings: Gives you the option to request a profile name change, request an email address change, change password and enable 2FA.
Support: Allows you to contact the Support Team via chat.
Sign out: Allows you to sign out of your profile.
Home
Your Home menu is split into the following tabs: Dashboard, Tasks, Notifications and Calendar.
Dashboard: Displays a general overview of your company profile, a preview of your list of pending tasks, a preview of your notifications, the number of active team members, upcoming holidays, and work anniversaries.
Tasks: Shows a list of any pending admin tasks that need your attention. e.g., contract signing.
Notifications: Shows a list of notifications. e.g., funds being collected for payments, failed payments, completed onboardings, etc.
Calendar: Shows a list of events and milestones. e.g., upcoming holidays, birthdays, and work anniversaries.
People
Your People menu is split into the following tabs: Team, Onboarding, Access, and Documents.
Team: Shows a list of your employees and contractors. Archived employee and contractor profiles can be accessed from a link at the end of this list.
Onboarding: Shows a list of employees and contractors who are being onboarded. You have the option of clicking each onboarding item to view more details.
Departments: Shows a list of your departments. You're also able to create new ones from this tab
Access: Shows a list of all admins and managers, including the account owner. You're also able to invite more admins and managers from this page.
Payroll
Your Payroll menu is split into the following tabs: Run payroll, History, and Settings.
Run payroll: Shows a list of paid, pending, processing, draft, and Overdue payrolls for contractors and employees. Overdue payrolls will be displayed here for a limited time. You'll be able to view, edit, approve, and skip payrolls from this tab. You're also able to create off-cycle payrolls here.
History: Shows a list of contractor and employee payrolls that have been paid.
Issues: Shows a list of errors or issues affecting a payroll.
Settings: Shows a list of pay schedules and the team members added to them. You'll be able to edit, create, and delete pay schedules from this tab.
Payments
Your Payments menu is split into the following tabs: Pay contractors, Requests, Vendors, History, Charges, and Refunds.
Pay contractors: Gives you the option to create one-time payments for contractors outside of a payroll. You can also bulk upload payments from this tab. This is also where vendor payments are created.
Requests: Shows a list of contractor and vendor payment requests that are Pending, Rejected, Withdrawn, and Completed.
Vendors: Shows your list of vendors.
History: Shows a list of all contractor payments.
Charges: Shows a list of all charges made to your account and Plane Balance.
Refunds: Shows a list of all refunds.
Expenses
Your Expenses menu is split into the following tabs: Inbox and History.
Inbox: Shows a list of pending expenses from team members.
History: Shows a list of Approved and Rejected expenses from team members.
Time off
Your Time off menu is split into the following tabs: Requests, Upcoming, and Settings.
Requests: Shows a list of all Pending, Withdrawn, Approved, and Declined time off requests.
Upcoming: Shows a list of approved upcoming time off.
Settings: Allows you to choose which time off types you want to make available to your team members.
Time tracking
Your Time tracking tab allows you to view submitted time entries for your team as well as enter them on their behalf.
Accounting
Your Accounting menu is split into the following tabs: Prepare and Settings. This menu is linked to Apps, which will be shown below.
Prepare: Gives you the option to connect your accounting software. More details can be found here.
Settings: Gives you the option to manage settings for the accounting automation.
Compliance
Your Compliance menu is split into the following tabs: Overview and Taxes.
Overview: Provides a link to 1099-NEC forms for your US contractors and shows a list of their names, contract types, and pending compliance forms.
Taxes: Shows the current tax filing year and lets you update your EIN, company name, and address. This tab also shows a list of Filing/Filed and Skipped compliance documents.
Insights
Your Insights menu is split into the following tab: Reports.
Reports: Gives you the option to create reports for Payments, Payroll summary, Expenses, Payroll journal, Payroll preview, People, Compensation history, Payroll benefits and deductions, Benefits, and Time off.
Company
Your Company menu is split into the following tabs: Workspace, Entities, Verification, Bank accounts, Plan & billing, Documents, and Apps.
Workspace: Shows your workspace name. We’ll use the workspace name when referring to you in emails and notifications.
Entities: Shows the legal name of your company. If you click on the company name you'll see additional information such as the Business details, as well as Management and Ownership.
Verification: Shows the verification status of your company, entity representative and/or owner, and bank account(s).
Bank accounts: Shows you a list of bank accounts. You're able to replace the existing bank account and/or add new ones.
Plan & billing: Shows you a list of invoices and receipts for your Plane subscription.
Documents
The Documents tab shows a list of company and team member documents that have been uploaded to Plane. This includes contracts, invoices, tax forms, addendums, etc.
Apps
The Apps tab provides you with the option to add your account apps to Plane. Currently only supporting Quickbooks Online. You can find more details here.
