How to create a new contract for contractors

How do I edit a contract and add a special clause to the contract for existing contractors?

When adding a new contractor, you'll have the option to add your own addendum to the contract. If you want to edit the contract or add a special clause for an existing contractor, you will need to create a new contract.

To create a new contract:

  1. Under the People menu, go to the Team tab and click the name of the contractor to go to the contractor’s details page.

  2. Click on the Documents tab.

  3. On the right side of the Documents page, click Add Contract.

  4. Select the country from the dropdown and choose whether you want to use Plane's locally compliant contract or your own.

    1. If you choose to use your own contract, ensure you have the contract that has been signed and click the Choose File button to upload the contract, then click Create contract to finish.

  5. If you choose to use Plane's locally compliant contract, the page will show the required information to complete in order to have the contract generated. Complete all fields as needed and click Create contract to finish.

  6. Once you review and sign the contract, it will be available in the contractor's profile to sign.
    💡 Please note: If you create another contract for the same contractor before they have signed a previous contract, your signature from that previous contract will be withdrawn when you create the new contract.

  7. After the contractor signs the new contract, you can terminate the former contract if needed.

Adding contract addendums and special clauses

You can add addendums and special clauses when creating a new contract. Those options are available in the Attachments section of the New contract window.

When an additional document or addendum is attached to a contract, it is visible to contractors when they preview the contract for signature. Contractors can also see the attached document in the Documents section of their profile page, once the contract has been signed by all parties.

To terminate a contract:

  1. Under the People menu, go to the Team tab, click the name of the contractor to go to the contractor’s details page.

  2. Click on the Documents tab.

  3. Locate the contract you want to terminate and click the arrow on the right side.

  4. Click on the three purple dots in the top right side of the contract page and select "Terminate." Click "Yes, terminate agreement."
