How to get a Foreign Inward Remittance Certificate (FIRC) in India

Updated today

A Foreign Inward Remittance Certificate (FIRC) is an official document provided by your bank in India. It serves as proof that you received foreign currency payments from abroad. A FIRC helps you comply with India's regulatory requirements (FEMA), file accurate income tax returns, and claim any applicable tax exemptions or export incentives.

How to get FIRC for payments received via Plane

Plane does not issue FIRCs directly. However, we can guide you and provide necessary documentation or information based on how your payment was routed, to assist you in requesting a FIRC from your bank.

If you need a FIRC, simply contact our Support team via in-app chat or email. Plane can assist with providing:

  • A No Objection Certificate (NOC) – confirms Plane has no objection to you obtaining a FIRC.

  • A Unique Transaction Reference (UTR) – helps your bank trace and verify the payment.

Our team will process and provide the needed documentation or information within 7-10 business days from when the request is received.

Requesting FIRC from your bank

After receiving the NOC and UTR from Plane, you can request the FIRC directly from your bank. Your bank will usually need the following details:

  • Your name and bank account number

  • Remitter’s name and address

  • Transaction amount in foreign currency and INR equivalent

  • Purpose of payment

  • UTR number and payment date

  • Any supporting documents, such as invoices or contracts, if applicable

Processing times and fees for issuing a FIRC vary between banks. We recommend checking directly with your bank for their exact requirements and timelines.
